Marilyn, I treasure the memories of Alan, both personally & professionaly. His support of my son, Jonathan, laid the foundation for his career as an architect. Jon recently told me he considered Alan his mentor. I was extremely saddened to hear of this tragedy. My memories of him will live on forever.

Diane and I were profoundly saddened to learn of Alan's passing. He was an intelligent, talented, kind and generous man. We worked together closely for more than two years on the design and construction of our new home. His creation has profoundly enriched our lives and is tangible evidence of his great design skill.

He was also a wonderful friend whose absence will be sadly missed.

Our sincere condolences go out to Marilyn, Linn and the rest of his family for their tremendous loss.

Talent poured from Alan's fingers and he designed so quickly, effortlessly, elegantly, and egolessly. I don't think there are many in his profession like that. It was a privilege to spend time in his buildings.
As an in-law, I loved Alan deeply; his quiet, wise ways and active mind meant that the conversation was always good.
My heart aches for Marilyn, children Linn and Eric, and the grandson we shared -- Meyer Shepard Lewin who, because of Alan's untimely death, will be deprived of more years with this rare husband, father, grandparent. He will always be Sheppy's "Popeye." I'll never forget the fervent emotion in Alan's voice when I heard him say, "I love that kid!" That kid -- and many, many of us of all ages -- are richer for having had Alan in our lives.
As it is said, and hopefully gives some comfort: "Grieve not too long for his passing but revel in the life he lived."

To all the family at AR Meyers,
Alan was one of the most important men in my life. He made a profound impact on me and pushed me to be the best at what we did together. I will never forget him.
Marilyn > my heart goes out to you for your loss. It's my loss as well. I was just thinking of him on the day he passed. His passing has deeply affected me. I will always miss him.

Alan was like the father you could talk to about anything, a wonderful friend, and a fellow design professional to the highest degree. I will miss our design project collaboration, golf, National games, but most of all our genuine friendship.

I will miss you Alan. And to the Meyers' family, I am so sorry for your loss...he made such an impression on many. My sincere condolences during this difficult time.

So sorry for the family's loss.

July 22, 2014

We are profoundly shocked and saddened to learn of Alan's untimely passing. Alan became my closest childhood friend when we became classmates at Barnard Elementary School and on through MacFarland Junior High School. We were also pledge brothers and subsequently members of Sigma Phi Fraternity while in high school. He was an integral part of my youth and teenage years, growing up in Washington, D.C. The memories of these joyous times together remain indelibly imprinted in my mind.

Despite the passage of time and my living far outside the Washington area, our lives have continued to merge, further enriching my life and adding new memories. What an exceptionally kind and talented person Alan was. Roz and I extend our love and heartfelt condolences to Marilyn and the family for their loss. He will be deeply missed by all.

With love,

Warren and Roz Foer
