A yarn-bombing, beekeeping, sail boating, fly fishing, world traveling, road tripping, mother of two, died on November 4, 2018 after her long inspiring battle with cancer.
Ann was born in Washington, DC on May 29, 1957. She graduated from Langley High School and eventually received a Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University. Ann enjoyed travelling, road trips, watching movies, walking her dog Winnie, summers in Block Island, and spending time with her friends and family. Ann had an infectious laugh and was always willing to be the brunt of any joke.
In April 2018, Ann developed Stitch 4-Stage IV, a YARNBOMB project to raise money and awareness of Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. The end result was a gorgeous yarn-filled, tree lined Clarendon Metro Station with donations coming in from around the world.
Ann is survived by her two children, Andrew G Irving and his wife Caite, and Ashley M Irving; her brother Steve L McLean; her sister Kathie L Geiser; her nieces and nephews; and her many family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Karen Ribeiro Drug Discovery Cancer Research Fund which supports development of targeted anti-cancer agents for patients living with advanced (metastatic) disease.
Memorial services will be held Friday, November 9, at 2:30, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, 4444 Arlington, VA 22204. A reception will follow the service.
