CARL WILKINSON Obituary


CARL EUGENE WILKINSON  1925-2016  
At age 91 on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 Carl Eugene Wilkinson went home to be with the Lord at Fairfax Nursing Center in Fairfax, Virginia. He died of complications related to diabetes but lived a long and fulfilled life.  Carl was a devout Christian, proud Navy veteran, successful home builder, and a devoted father and grandfather. He was a born on July 10, 1925 in Dunbar, West Virginia to Thomas Wilkinson and Bertha Spence. Carl was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and James Wilkinson; his son, Ronald Wilkinson; and his ex-wife Mildred A. Watson.  He is survived by his loving daughters, Dianne Boothe and her husband Jeff and Carla Wilkinson; and grandchildren Faith Edwards and her husband Steve, Ryan Boothe and his wife Kathryn, Lisa Boothe, James Boothe and Michael Boothe. Carl is also the great-grandfather of Parker and Madison Edwards. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 as an Electrician's Mate on the US Daniel destroyer. After honorably serving his country, Carl attended the University of Maryland. Upon graduating, he worked for the United States Government. He then started Wilkinson Construction Company,embarking on his true passion in life and building hundreds of homes in Prince George's County.  Carl was President of the Prince Georges Home Builders Association and active in the Prince George's Chamber of Commerce and Toastmasters. He was very proud of those accomplishments and giving back to his community. Services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016. Visitation 12:30 p.m. Service I p.m., at Whitehall Baptist Church, 1205 Farmington Rd. East, Accokeek, MD. 20607. Interment private.
