SCOTT CATHERINE D. SCOTT "Kitty" (Age 82) Former Chief Librarian and Director of the National Air and Space Museum Library, Smithsonian, and member Special Libraries Association, serving as President 1992-1993, and inducted into SLA Hall of Fame, 1996, died peacefully in her sleep on May 17 at her home in Washington, DC. "Kitty" Scott graduated from the Catholic University of America and received her Masters in Library Science in 1955. Her distinguished career included being the founder and Chief, Technology Library, Bellcomm Inc. a subsidiary of AT&T, where she worked closely on Project Apollo; her confirmation by the Senate to the first National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) winner of the Federal Service Medal. "Kitty" Scott enjoyed travel with friends, her membership at the Capital Yacht Club and was very active in the Republican Party at District and National levels. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Old Saint Mary''s (Chinatown) 727 5th St. NW. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Special Libraries Association or Smithsonian Institution Libraries.
