On Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the Community Hospice of Washington. Beloved mother of Gerald A. Edwards, Jr. (Barbara) of Washington, DC, Adrienne A. Edwards (Haywood L. Perry, Jr.) of Accokeek, MD and Hazel R. Edwards of Lanham, MD. She also leaves seven grandsons, John T. Edwards, David M. Edwards (Sawdatou), Stephen D. Edwards, Christopher J. Edwards, Jonathan A. Edwards, Haywood L. Perry, III and Jason C. Perry; one granddaughter, Ava D. Perry; two great-grandchildren, Kephren Pondexter and Jordyn K. Edwards; two sisters, Ruth Hill of O'Fallon, IL and Wyvetter Hoover Younge of E. St. Louis, IL; two brothers, Roscoe Hoover of E. St. Louis, IL and Herbert Hoover of Lutz, FL and numerous other relatives. Family will receive friends and colleagues at the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, Howard University, 6th Street & Howard Pl., NW on Thursday from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cecile Hoover Edwards Endowed Scholarship Fund, c/o Howard University, University Advancement, 2225 Georgia Ave., N.W., Room 829, Attn: N. My deepest sympathy to the family. Dr. Edwards was a mentor to me and I admired her so very much when I first met her in the School of Human Ecoloy working on the Nutrition Project. I will always remember her as a great lady.
