Died peacefully at home on June 8, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Honig and is survived by her sister Georgine Sachs Salom; her daughter Jacqueline Honig Shay; her son-in-law Peter Shay; and her son Paul Honig. Additional survivors include cherished grandchildren Harry and Molly Shay, Yessenia Corral; great grand-daughter Ava Shay and many beloved relatives and friends.
Claire was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 16, 1923 and worked in the garment district for many years before moving to Washington, DC with her husband. She became an active volunteer with Hadassah and the PTA after the birth of their children. She and her husband owned and operated Juvenile Fashions, an upscale children's clothing store in McLean VA, which Claire continued to run single handedly after her husband's death. She enjoyed politics, mahjong, and spending time with her family.
