On Monday, September 11, 2017, originally of Evansville, IN, died at Medstar Montgomery Medical Center after a brief illness. Devoted, loving mother to daughter, Erin Callaghan of Silver Spring and son, Sean Callaghan (Molly Lancaster) of Plymouth, MA. She is also survived by two sisters, Paula Kifer of Silver Spring, MD and Beth Kifer of Evansville, IN; and brother, Brion Harper of Chandler, IN, as well as two cousins, Mark and Bill Cody of Tell City, IN. A resident of Silver Spring for the past year, Connie had lived in Kensington, MD since 1981. She had a long and successful career in health insurance administration. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in the 1970's and later for CAC insurance company from 1982 until her retirement in 2013.
A registered nurse by training, Connie was a graduate of the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Lexington, KY. "Connie Jean", as her family called her, was known for her good humor, distinctive laugh, and her love of the Christmas holidays. She was an avid Redskins fan, enjoyed mystery novels and was a dedicated PBS viewer and supporter. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
