DEBORAH MAZIA  

On January 10, 2019, DEBORAH MAZIA, 71, of North Bethesda, MD finally was able to be free and at rest. She loved like no other and was loved by so many. She had a uniquely positive outlook and encouraging spirit. Debbie was passionate about art and literature and a warrior for social justice. She worked in the political department of the American Federation of Teachers, making a difference for 35 years. She is survived by her daughter, Lara Baker; grandson, Joshua; brother, Burt Mazia and sister, Roz White. Funeral services will be held on January 15, 2019, 1 p.m. at the Judean Memorial Gardens Chapel, 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd., Olney, MD. Graveside interment immediately following. Family will be receiving friends at Debbie Mazia's home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Montgomery Hospice, Casey House, www.montgomeryhospice.org, The ACLU (aclu.org), or NAMI (nami.org). Arrangements by HINES-RINALDI FUNERAL HOME, INC., under Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington Contract.
