Dolores Lanham Guild, 82, of Potomac, MD died at Suburban Hospital on December 2, 2012. Dolores Langham was born October 24, 1930 in Atlanta, GA. The oldest child of Ray and Lillian Hicks Langham. She attended the Girls High School and Joseph Brown High School in Atlanta. Following graduation, Dolores worked at AT&T in Atlanta and entered the University of Georgia. She met a young engineer, Paul Reed Guild whom she married in Atlanta on March 27, 1954. The couple lived in Cincinnati, OH, Jacksonville, FL, Chatham, NJ and Falls Church, VA prior to moving to Potomac, MD.
The Guilds joined Potomac United Methodist Church and Lakewood Country Club. After Paul retired from AT&T in 1984, he became "Cemetery Manager" for the church, while Dolores served as the Wedding Coordinator. Dolores was active in the Potomac Women's Club, as well as volunteering in the gift shop at Sibley Hospital. After Paul's passing in 2002, Dolores was surrounded by family and wonderful friends for the remainder of her life.
Dolores is survived by brother and sister-in-law Donald and Sandra Langham of Woodstock, GA; sister-in-law Jeanne Guild Townsend of Traverse City, MI; her daughter Patricia of Washington, DC; son Mark, his wife Linda, two granddaughters Katherine and Christa of Bethesda, MD; nephew Gregg Langham, and his wife Samantha of Lawrenceville, GA.
Dolores' funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 7 at the Potomac United Methodist Church in Potomac, MD. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Dolores Guild to the , the or to the Cemetery Fund of Potomac United Methodist Church, 9908 South Glen Rd., Potomac, MD 20854.
