Doris Barsale Tchakirides, age 94, passed away on May 15, 2018. She was the daughter of Louis Barsale and Louise Elizabeth Gould Barsale. Doris is predeceased by her husband William Tchakirides and her son, William Louis Tchakirides. Doris was born in Waterbury, CT on November 6, 1923. She lived most of her life in her beloved Connecticut. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Farmington, and an active participant in the afternoon guild. She was also active in the Tunxis Senior Center and served as their president. A lifelong Yankee fan and a season ticket holder for the Hartford Whalers, she was particularly excited about the Yankees' promising 2018 season and at 94 years young watched every Yankee game on MLB! In 2001 Doris moved to Virginia to be closer to her daughter. She lived at The Oaks of Wellington in Manassas for 14 years until moving to Tribute at Heritage Village when it opened in 2016. She was very active in the Manassas Senior Center, particularly the acting group as well as being a key participant in planning and running the Annual Holiday Bazaar. She also became a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Manassas and attended services regularly until she was no longer able to drive. Survived by her daughter, Ellen Tchakirides Gerhard, son-in-law, Jeff Joseph Lychwick, and daughter-in-law, Ellen Smith Tchakirides, five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 9325 West Street, Manassas, VA at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
