Beloved sister Dorothy Lee Birdzell passed away peacefully on December 17, 2018 at the age of 53. She was born in Washington, DC on August 26, 1965. She is survived by her brother, Douglas, and her nephew, Anthony.
Dorothy grew up in Arlington, Virginia, where she graduated from Bishop Denis J. O'Connell High School. Like her mother, Theresa (1926-2018), Dorothy was intelligent, hard-working and loved to read and learn. She had a great sense of humor and a dry wit. She graduated from George Mason University, and went on to earn a law degree from the George Mason University School Of Law. From 1999 to 2018, she worked as an attorney at Arnold and Porter in Washington, DC. Her diligence was much appreciated by her colleagues. She was a creative writer, and loved Broadway shows. She devoted much time and energy to arranging elder-care for her parents, and to making arrangements for their estates and trusts. She loved animals and was a generous and considerate aunt. Dorothy was greatly loved and will missed.
A visitation will be held at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Virginia, on Thursday, January 17 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will take place on Friday, January 18 at 11 a.m., at Convergence, 1801 North Quaker Lane, Alexandria, Virginia.
