EDITH H. HAYMAN, age 91, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and her devoted home health care aide, Jeanne Mondesir. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Hayman; her eldest daughter, Gail Hayman; and her brothers, Herb and Dave Levitz. Edith was born in the Catskill Mountains near Ellenville, NY, and spent her early years on the family dairy farm. She moved to Washington, DC, in 1944, where she met Harry, a sailor, at a USO dance. The couple married in 1946 and enjoyed more than 62 happy years together, many of which were spent living in Silver Spring, MD. In 1954, Edith and Harry received a license from the FCC and became the founders and first owners of WPGC radio station. Edith and Harry were also instrumental in the creation of The Arc of DC. After Harry retired from a long career at NASA, he and Edith moved to Florida where they lived happily for their remaining years. Edith is survived by her children Sidney Hayman, Stuart (Laura) Hayman, and Beth (Stanley) Truman; her grandchildren, Nathaniel and Glenn Miller, Benjamin Truman, Deborah Schoenfeld, Michelle Miller, Bernice Malka, and Jason, Jamie, Jake, Eli and Sophie Hayman; and eight wonderful great-grandchildren. Edith was a loving and enthusiastic wife and mother. She was the family matriarch who shared sage advice with all her family members for more than six decades. She will be missed terribly by those who survive her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019, 10 a.m. at TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 254 Carroll St., NW, Washington DC, 202-541-1001, after which she will be laid to rest at Mt.
