Eugene A. Delmar, FAIA  

Died at home on December 30, 2018, at age 90. Originally from Gallitzin, PA, "Gene" was a resident of the Washington, DC area since 1954. After serving in the US Army Corp of Engineers, he earned his architecture degree from Columbia University and later earned a master's in urban design from Catholic University.
He founded Delmar Architects in 1959 and worked up until two days before his death. The firm has designed numerous schools in Maryland as well as other structures in the Washington, DC area. Gene, who received awards for his mid-century designs, was a past president of the Potomac Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Maryland Society of Architects. He was a fellow of the AIA. He was also active with organizations that helped the underserved.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Bettie, son and architect David Delmar, who now directs Delmar Architects, daughter Diana Delmar, son Daniel Delmar and six grandchildren. The family thanks relatives and friends who gathered recently to celebrate his life.
