Florence Bicking Walleigh "Bick"  

Died peacefully in her sleep at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC on January 9, 2019. She was born at the old Sibley Hospital in DC on March 2, 1923. Bick was preceded in death by her husband C. Leslie Walleigh "Les" and survived by her four children and their spouses - Richard Walleigh (Wendy), Leslie Ann Walleigh (Bob Withey), Linda Walleigh Alban (Fernando), Wendy Walleigh Kendrick (Keith); nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Bick lived in the Washington metropolitan area all her life. She graduated from Wilson Teachers College then taught kindergarten in DC public schools for three years. She took a 15 year break from teaching to raise her family but returned in 1962 to teach for 24 years. After retiring from Bannockburn Elementary School in Bethesda, MD in 1986, Bick enjoyed traveling, golf, bowling and spending time with family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19 at 1 p.m. at Concord St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 5910 Goldsboro Rd., Bethesda, MD. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Forest Hills of DC (formerly the Methodist Home) where Bick resided over the last six years.
