FRANK D. BEALE, JR. "Bill"  

On December 2, 2018, Frank D. "Bill" Beale, Jr. passed away at his home. He is survived by his two children, Thomas Beale and Anne Beale, his sisters Ann Beale Wilmer and Patricia Beale Lawrence, and several nieces and nephews. Born in Clifton Forge, VA, Bill had been a resident of Alexandria, VA since 1950. After graduating from high school, Bill went to Case Western Reserve University before entering the U.S. Army in June 1943. Deployed in 1944 to the European theater with K Company, 414 Regiment, he saw action in Northern France, the Netherlands and Central Europe before being captured by the Germans in November, 1944. He spent six months in a POW camp in Czechoslovakia before being released in June, 1945. In August, 1945, he married his wife, Virginia, who passed away in 2015 after 70 years of marriage. After the war, Bill received degrees from Rutgers University and New York University. His working career began in 1949 and included jobs at the Bureau of the Budget, U.S. Renegotiation Board, Chamber of Commerce, Office of the Quartermaster General (U.S. Army), and the Department of the Army as in budget analyst positions. He retired from the government in 1974 and spent the next 19 years in accounting roles at various companies in the DC Metro Area. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 10, at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mt. Vernon Highway, Alexandria, VA 22309. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements by Jefferson Funeral Chapel.
