In Loving Memory of

Helen was born in Washington, DC on February 24, 1947, and was raised in Rockville, MD. She passed away one year ago, September 21, 2016, at Bruns House (hospice) in California. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert "Bob", earlier that year. Helen is survived by her sister, Margaret "Meg", and four nieces.
Helen moved to California when she was 23. She did not expect to have a long life due to the onset of Lupus at 18. But her courage and her close relationship with God helped her through the adversity inflicted upon her by Lupus and multiple other autoimmune diseases. Helen treasured every day of life. She is remembered with love for her efforts to interest girls in math and science through her work at UC Berkeley; for her "volunteer of the year" work at the Oakland Zoo; for her stories of trekking through the Alaskan wilderness; for her intellect, her independence, her love of nature and of music and her sense of humor.
As her sister, I am forever grateful that she loved me and let me love her.
