Jacob Thomas Brewer "Jake"
January 20, 1981 - September 19, 2015

Jacob Thomas Brewer, of Alexandria, VA, was a 21st century Renaissance man, a true polymath who made an indelible impression on everyone he met. Raised in Columbia, TN, he was a star athlete and actor at Columbia Central High School, before attending the U.S. Naval Academy and graduating from Vanderbilt University. For a decade, he built a career in Washington, DC that was unparalleled in the range of the issues it touched, from government accountability/transparency and immigration, to energy/the environment and veteran affairs. He was a senior technology adviser to Megan Smith, the chief technology officer at the White House.
He died while doing what he'd always done - supporting a friend in a cancer charity ride.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Katharine Brewer, his daughter, Georgia Brewer, his mother, Lori Collins, his stepfather, Craig Collins; his father, Tom Brewer, his stepmother, Kim Brewer; his sisters, Britt Reynolds and Chelsea Brewer; and his brother-in-law, Andrew Reynolds. He is anticipating the birth of a yet-to-be-born Baby Brewer.
Memorial service to be held.
