James Black McLeish, Jr., 78, of Hilton Head Island, SC, died Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at his home in Moss Creek.
Mr. McLeish was born October 15, 1923 in Dundee, Scotland, and was the son of Elizabeth Vigrow McLeish and James Black McLeish, Sr. His father was president of the United Electrical Works, District 4.
He was an Army veteran of World War II,serving with the 104th Timberwolf Infantry Division and graduated from Upsala College and Rutgers University. Mr. McLeish began his retail career with Macy's in New Jersey and later was a real estate broker in Reston, VA, when he retired in 1990 to play golf.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Staff McLeish; one daughter, Kim McLeish Mitchell and her husband, Tommy Mitchell of Fredericksburg, VA; two sons, James Black McLeish III and his wife Gretchen McLeish of Vienna, VA and J. Benjamin McLeish and his wife, Carol McLeish of Tampa, FL; two brothers, William McLeish of Scottsdale, AZ and John McLeish of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his wife's sister, Robin Wade and her husband, Stan E. Wade and eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hunter, Kyle, Chelsea, J.B., Taylor, James IV and William; two nieces, Beth and Devon, and four nephews, William, John, Scott and David.
A memorial service was held at St. Luke's Methodist Church on Saturday, November 17, with Rev. Russell Freeman officiating.
