JAMES ARTHUR COOPER (Age 73)  

On August 20, 2018. Raised in Takoma Park, MD and Falls Church, VA, long-time resident of Lake Ridge and Manassas, VA, he leaves behind his devoted wife, Mary W. McAdory; his sister, Jennifer Cooper Roy (Michael L.) of Dunn Loring, VA; his nephews, Brian, Ethan, and Nolan Roy; his wife's children, Louis, Liz, and David McAdory; his former wife, Judy K. Scollick of Woodbridge, VA; and many friends and former band students. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur I. and Margaret V. Cooper of Falls Church and Leesburg, VA; and his brother, Jeffrey Brian Cooper of San Jose, CA. Jim was a band teacher and director for Fairfax County Public Schools for 31 years, including several elementary schools and Hayfield Secondary School. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3022 Woodlawn Ave., Falls Church 22042 at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12. Inurnment ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to: Hayfield Music Theatre Scholarship, Hayfield Secondary School, 7630 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA 22315, Attn. Roxanne Seftas; or to Music Program, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
