James W. Raughley (Age 88)  
March 15, 1929 - May 6, 2017  

Of Stafford, Virginia died peacefully in his sleep after a long illness. James was owner of "Marie's Books and Things" on Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with his wife Marie, who died January 14, 2002. He is survived by his daughters, Cora Raughley and Marie Pellegrino; grandchildren, Anthony Pellegrino, Gino Pellegrino (Elizabeth), Rosemary Kennedy (Rick) and Michael Del Vecchio (Alyssa); and great-grandchildren, Cecily, RJ, Ben and Sophie. James started working at the age of nine, helping his father who was disabled from the First World War. He loved baseball and received an offer from the Brooklyn Dodgers to try out for the team, but instead joined the Army Air Corp in 1946. MSgt Raughley worked for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon in the 1960's and was also with the Department of the Navy after leaving the Air Force. He was very much loved by family and friends. Funeral services will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to American Red Cross for the victims of the hurricanes.
