Jane C. Glakas

Jane Colevas Glakas, 93, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2017 with her family at her side. Jane was born and raised in Washington, DC and lived for many years in Springfield, VA. She was a lifetime member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Jane worked for the National Communications Workers of America and later for the Fairfax County Public School system. Jane loved cooking, bowling, watching the Washington Nationals, baking pastries for church bazaars, and spending time with family.
Jane was predeceased by husband, Nicholas T. Glakas, her parents, Speros and Helen Colevas, and her siblings, Ray, Bessie, Jim, Latch and Billie Colevas. She is survived by her children, Johnny (Lisa), Barbara, and Jimmy (Cynthia), as well as her grandchildren, Wesley, Maggie, Mick and Diana. She is also survived by her siblings, Cleo Hangemanole and Prokopes "Cuppy" Colevas, as well as many other members of the extended Colevas, Glakas, Argerakis, Stratos and Manis families.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA 22032. Services will be held on Monday, September 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street and Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC, 20007. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane's name may be made to Children's Hospital Foundation (www.ChildrensNational.org ).
