Jane P. (Willey) Hustvedt (Age 99)  

Of Annandale, VA passed away at Fairfax Hospital, November 25, 2018. She was born April 1919 in Swampscott, MA.
A 1940 graduate of Jackson College, Tufts University (BA, Psychology), During WWII "Janie" was a mapmaker for US Coast and Geodetic Survey in support of the war effort in Europe. She settled in Annandale in 1950. After several years in retail, Jane became a florist. Elegance by Janie provided flowers (and often more) to weddings and other functions for 55 years. She was a founding member (1955), long-time choir member and Flower Lady for Little River United Church of Christ, Annandale.
Jane had an outgoing personality and zest for life. She often wore hats or colorful bows in her hair, sometimes with mismatched shoes. Her "wicked funny' sense of humor included original aphorisms ("Everything is better with vanilla ice cream and chocolate").
She married Gordon B. Willey in Lynn, MA, in 1941 and was widowed in 1957. She married Erling H. Hustvedt in Annandale in 1960. He died in 2001.
She leaves behind sons, Eric (Phyllis Price) Hustvedt, Nova Scotia, Canada, Scott (Peggy) Hustvedt, Upper Marlboro, MD, Dan Hustvedt, Annandale, VA, Casey (Cheryl) Hustvedt, Durham, NC; daughters, Elin Frye, Falling Waters, WV and Nancy (Roland) Wentworth, Columbia, MD; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held January 26, Little River United Church of Christ (LRUCC), 8410 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the LRUCC Music/Organ Fund. Interment in the future at Arlington National Cemetery.
