As a graduate student `93-98, we fondly referred to Joan as "the Big H."
She was a wonderful professor and person. Enjoyed many sports experiences (first WNBA Washington Mystics game, World Cup USA soccer v Brazil, NCAA Bball final fours) and conversations.
