KIMBERLY JACKSON Obituary

JACKSON Kimberly Ann Jackson August 30, 1969 - March 31, 2018 Kimberly was born to Robert and Deanna Jackson, living at the top of the Jersey shore. She spent her early years turning blue in the ocean waters of New Jersey, playing kick the can and hide and seek, and flying kites with her friends. Quick to share, and very independent, Kimberly was always in motion. Upon learning that the family was to move to Minnesota, Kimberly agreed to go if she could have a pony. Terms set, she attended high school, made more friends, and developed a love of equestrian pursuits both at pony club, and as an instructor. Kimberly graduated from Princeton, as had her father and grandfather. She developed a sincere affection for Princeton, its people and its traditions, which she kept alive through the many reunions she attended. In her second week at Harvard Law School she was diagnosed with cancer. a She survived a particularly difficult surgery coupled with radiation and chemotherapy. Without taking a break, she maintained a full course load and graduated Cum Laude. Kimberly passed the bar in New York, Virginia and Washington, DC., started her legal practice at Shaw Pittman, moved to O'Melveny & Myers, became in house counsel at Freddie Mac, and finished her career at the State Department Office of the Legal Advisor. During her professional career, Kimberly met a great many talented and dedicated people, and made a number of offices a more lively and happy place. Throughout her life, Kimberly formed and maintained many friendships, meeting and developing deep bonds. Kimberly collected these friendships, and nurtured them, finding in the practice of keeping in touch both solace and warmth. Kimberly also had a deep love of travel, her wanderlust lead her to visit six of the seven continents, and a comparably impressive number of cities and countries. She always found something new and wonderful to experience in these trips. Kimberly was a consummate planner her travel itineraries, which included new adventures and discoveries. Kimberly's epic war with cancer ended with the end of March. And like March, Kimberly's life was fierce and beautiful, and ended quietly. Kimberly leaves behind her devoted friends, her grieving husband, Charles McNeill, her adored family - her brother, Douglass Jackson, sister-in-law, Rebecca Jackson, niece, Morgan Jackson, nephew, Drew Jackson, and her father, Robert Jackson to take solace in the knowledge that she continues her journey through the undiscovered country. Kimberly will not be found waiting, as she was not one to wait, but making friends and crossing things off her list in the next life. A memorial service will be held for Kimberly Jackson on Wednesday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at Christ Church in Alexandria, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation, P.O. Dear Kimberly, I was so saddened to hear of your passing. We have not stayed in touch since we were 1Ls togethor, but I remember your humour, your friendliness, your articulateness and your kindness. Reading your obituary showed me that you lived your life as a great adventure. I hope to emulate that love of adventure in my own life.

I am so saddened to learn that Kimberly is gone. We were colleagues and friends for nearly my entire legal career. I could always count on her for a lunch date and a chance to discuss our travels, our mutual love for living in Arlington and of life. I will miss her so much.
