MARCOS BRUJIS Obituary

MARCOS BRUJIS (Age 68) Marcos Brujis was born June 22, 1952, in Lima, Peru. He passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Marcos was a loving husband to the love of his life Denise; devoted father to Leon (Nicole) Brujis, Daniel (Rachel) Brujis, Sandra (Dan) Lovi; and incredible grandfather to his six grandchildren, Emma, Max, Chloe, Ella, Benjamin, and Ren. Marcos is survived by his mother Tilda Brujis and predeceased by his father Elias Brujis. He is survived by his sister Rosy (Jaime) Spak. Marcos is remembered by family and friends as the ultimate family man. He embodied love, loyalty, and the happiness of a person who extends deep devotion to others and earns it back in return. His lifetime love story with Denise, his high school sweetheart, is an inspiration. Alongside enormous professional success, Marcos was a doting and model father, grandfather, husband, and son. His death leaves a hole in the hearts of friends and family worldwide, who take comfort in the great store of happy memories made with Marcos - and which Marcos himself so often captured on camera. Marcos had a long and distinguished career in international banking and economic development. From 2017 until his retirement in June 2020, Marcos was CEO of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Asset Management Company (AMC), a part of the World Bank Group dedicated to investing in sustainable companies in emerging markets. Marcos had been a founding executive of AMC in 2009, after the global financial crisis, where as Head of the Capitalization Funds and Chief Investment Officer he focused on helping recapitalize financial institutions in emerging markets. From 2014 to 2017 he was Global Director of the IFC's Financial Institutions Group, responsible for the IFC's largest investment business. Having first joined the IFC in 2000, Marcos's previous positions there included Manager for Mexico and Central America. Earlier in his career, Marcos was Executive Director of Institutional Banking at HSBC Argentina, where he led the acquisition by HSBC of Argentina's Banco Roberts in 1997. Marcos was founder, board member and key fundraiser for the Peru Privatization Fund, a $200 million fund launched in 1995, and before that he was Vice Chairman of the Board of the Argentina Private Development Trust, a private equity fund supporting privatizations of state industry. With a degree in industrial engineering from Israel's Technion and an MBA from Canada's McGill University, Marcos traveled extensiv ly throughout his life, for both business and pleasure, to over 120 countries. Across his travels he captured countless photographs and videos of family and friends, who eagerly looked forward to sharing his company visit after visit. A private burial will take place at the Garden of Remembrance Cemetery, Clarksburg, MD.
