Margaret Downs Thompson, 94, of Winchester, VA, on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living. Born October 10, 1924, daughter of the late Wilford W. Downs and Trixie Jane Dryman Adams. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Margaret embraced life and never knew a stranger. She was a member of The Church of Our Saviour at Oatlands, Leesburg. Her husband of 74 years, Addison "Tommy" Wills Thompson, preceded her in death on April 3, 2018. Surviving are children, Allison Massey (Robert, deceased), Elaine Keller (Thuril), Jeanne Arnold (Peter), James M. Thompson (Lynnda Joanne), Marilyn Goslin (Randy Eckley), Patricia Neal (Burt) and Linda Ferguson (Danny); 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and sisters, Blanche Kirchner, Virginia "Dinah" Brisbane, Betty Kirchner and Carol Wiles. Her son, Robert W. Thompson, grandson, James Benjamin Thompson, sons-in-law, Robert Massey and Randy Goslin, and brothers, James and Joseph Downs, all preceded her in death. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, January 19 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, VA with The Rev. James A. Basinger officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Spring Arbor staff for all the love, devotion and care given during her time with them.
