Michael Stephen Shear, M.D.  
Michael Stephen Shear, MD, of Towson, Maryland, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, Donna Blair Shear; son, Joshua Daniel Shear; siblings, Barbara Hirshorn, Gail (Joel) Smith, Jonathan (Maddy) Shear and brother-in-law of William Kerfoot. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Joseph and Miriam Shear. A celebration of life in his memory will be held at a later date. A virtual funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. Interment Beth El Memorial Park. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061. An outdoor Shiva will be held Thursday only, at the residence of Ms. Darla Landsman. Please e-mail for availability to: gairsmith@gmail.com. Masks are required. I knew Dr. Shear as an acquaintance. I always enjoyed our conversations. I will miss seeing him.

I haven't Dr. Shear in years, but I will always remember him as a thoughtful, caring man. I will never forget when one of his employees died suddenly in 1994 and he chartered a plane to fly people down to her home town on the Eastern Shore. Amazing.
