I was just in Buffalo for Christmas, thinking of Mims and his belief that "snow" was a four letter word. I miss his sly smile and how he could say paragraphs just by uttering "Well..." and leaving it at that.

He lived on his own terms with intelligence, grace and a strong, cultivated moral center that grounded his faith. His was a bright spirit in the world, ever thankful, ever generous. A dear friend who is missed.

Words can not express my deep sorrow at this news. Col. Mims as I called him throughout my childhood was one of my parents dearest friends. He was Army family, he was a kind gentle soul that held my families hands and hearts. A great man that has touched many and my memories of him will always make me smile. I can imagine the dinner they are cooking up now.....

Dear Mims, you were always so good to so many, a very kind heart, a Scientists, a Doctor and a Teacher to anyone who would sit still. You are missed
