MURRAY SYDNEY BORIS  
Age 82  
12/14/1934 ~ 9/19/2017  

Of Potomac, Maryland died peacefully with his beloved wife of 54 years, Linda Tucker Boris, by his side. Murray was the loving father of Jeffrey (Sheila) and David (Amy) and devoted grandfather of Hannah, Isaac, Mia, Leah and Alyssa. He was adored by his nieces and nephews.
 
A native of the Bronx, Murray graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute after serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. Murray spent his professional career as a mechanical engineer with the Naval Rocket Propellant Plant, NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration. While at NASA, he worked on Mariner II and Mariner III. Murray was an avid builder in his spare time. After retirement, he led the men's discussion group at Oasis Adult Learning. Murray originated the Hazak social program for seniors at B'nai Israel Congregation in Rockville, MD. Also at B'nai Israel, he led a havurah group that explored Jewish identity.
 
Murray was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Anna, and his sister Pearl Liberti. Along with his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by his sister, Theresa Cohen.
 
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 24 at 1 p.m. at B'nai Israel Congregation, 6301 Montrose Rd., Rockville, MD, with interment to follow at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA.
 
Shiva will be held on Sunday following the interment as well as Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Landow House, 1799 East Jefferson St., Rockville MD. Memorial contributions in Murray's honor may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
