Nathaniel Rother Obituary



ROTHER NATHANAEL A. ROTHER (Age 27) In Rotonda, FL south of Sarasota. The cause of death is still awaiting a police investigation. He had been missing for several days before the discovery of his body September 30, 2009. Nate Rother grew up in Bethesda and Chevy Chase, MD. He attended public schools in Montgomery County, the Hyde School in Connecticut, and Lynn University, in Boca Raton FL. He had been living in Englewood FL with his fiancée, where he had founded a home renovation company and had enrolled in the local community college. He is survived by his father, John Rother, Chevy Chase, MD; and his mother, Rev. Jean Alexander, Waltham MA. He is also survived by his stepmother, Christine Williams; his stepfather, Bruce Hanson; his sister, Elizabeth Rother, Gaithersburg MD; his nephew, Miguel Confesor; and uncles, Mark and Paul Rother and Carl Alexander and aunts, Nancy Carpenter and Lisa Rother. A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, October 15 at Bethesda United Church of Christ, 10010 Fernwood Rd. at Democracy Blvd. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Nate loved working with his hands as a builder, animals (especially black labs), and being on the water. Donations in his name may be made to Habitat for Humanity, which builds and restores housing for families in need (online, or 121 Habitat St, Americus, GA 31709); Puppies Behind Bars, which places puppies with inmates to train them for service work (online, or 10 E 40th St, 19th fl, New York, NY 10016); and Oceana, an advocacy organization for the world''s oceans (online, or 1350 Connecticut Ave, NW, Washington, DC.

To all who knew and loved Nate this is a tragic loss and I am so sorry for this ending. He was such a good man, friend, son, uncle, and brother. He will forever be missed and forever in my heart.
