Norm Calhoun died on Sunday evening, August 18, 2013 surrounded by his family, in Loudon County Hospital. Norm is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carol Skidmore Calhoun, and his four children and eight grandchildren. Norm was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. He lived in Argentina for three years, where he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Norm attended Brigham Young University (BA) and University of Washington (MBA) and worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington for 25 years, where he retired as the Director of Administrative Services. A child at heart, Norm loved spending time with young people and teaching for the last ten years in area public schools. Norm was known for his warm nature, his quick wit, his love of people, music and animals and his strong faith.
Norm died from complications associated with cancer. He was 80 years old.
His funeral will be held at the LDS church at 21015 Claiborne Parkway, Ashburn, VA 20147 at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 23. A Korean War veteran, Norm will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery.
