PATRICIA RUECKEL LIBHART  

Of Washington, DC passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Born in Columbus, OH on November 22, 1930 to the late Walter C. and Margaret Hally Rueckel. Wife of the late Myles Libhart and sister of Carol R. Brown of Pittsburgh, PA and the late Walter Craig Rueckel; aunt of Stephen (Suzanne) Brown of New York City, NY, Matthew (Susan) Brown of Bethesda, MD, Margaret B. Dobos of Pittsburgh, PA and Elizabeth B. Escher of Pittsburgh, PA; great-aunt of Daniel, Christian, Christopher, Benjamin, Mark, Matthew, Lauren and Hannah. Patricia earned a BA and a MA from Marquette University and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked in Student Affairs as Assistant Dean (1955 - 1958), Marquette University, Dean of Women (1961 - 1969), Vice President for Student Affairs (1969 - 1977), Assistant Professor of Psychology (1964 - 1968) Georgetown University. Executive Director of the National Association for Women in Education (1979 - 1995) and Presidential Search Consultant, Academic Consultation Service (1995 - 2000).
In addition, she volunteered teaching literacy for prisoners and helping prepare mothers for the GED and the workplace.
Friends may call at DEVOL FUNERAL HOME, 2222 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20007 on Wednesday, July 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. (complementary valet parking provided). A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 3630 Quesada St., NW, Washington, DC 200015 on Thursday, July 12. Interment in Pittsburgh, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's name to Georgetown University of Montgomery Hospice.
