The only child of Bea Tomlinson Mathis and Norman Mathis, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017, peacefully with his loving companion of many years, Judge Kristi Barlow, at his side. He was 71.
Peter was born in 1946 and had an amazing life residing in Friendship Heights in Washington, DC, attending Pennsylvania Military College and American University, where he earned a law degree and was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict as a Judge Advocate General and was discharged as a Captain. He then served veterans as an attorney with the Board of Veterans Appeals until his retirement in 2002. Peter was a scratch golfer, music lover and friend to many.
Peter leaves a devoted cousin, Janice Saunders and many other cousins in the Burlington NJ area.
His Requiem Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Wednesday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 145 West Broad St. Burlington, NJ. Interment will follow in the church yard. Arrangements by the Perinchief Chapels, Mount Holly.
