RONALD CHIABOTTA Obituary

RONALD LEE CHIABOTTA "Ron"
Ron died at Johns Hopkins University Hospital on July 22, 2018 from complications of pneumonia. He was born in Kansas City, MO, where as an avid scouter, taught nature classes at Roy Bartle Scout Camp. He was an Eagle Scout and member of Mic-O-Say. Ron was a graduate of Yale University. His love for plants and nature served him well, as he managed Potomac Nursery for many years. He also loved square dancing. Serving as President of the North American Lily Society and editor of the Potomac Lily Society newsletter, he co-authored The Lily Yearbook of the North American Lily Society. Ron hybridized lilies to be test grown in Holland. Son of John and Dorothy Chiabotta, Ron is survived by sister, Peg and brother, Bill. There will be no service.

My condolences to Ron's family and friends. Ron shared generously with those of us who shared his interests and taught countless people about lilies. He set a high standard for the N.A.L.S. I am thankful to have known him, and will think of him often whenever I see lilies.

May the family accept my sincere condolences. Ron shared so much with me and countless others to help us make the most of our hobbies. For our N.A.L.S society, he set a standard of high quality. I will always think of him when I work with my lilies. Rest in peace, Ron.

Ron was a wonderful lily enthusiast for many years and he was always thoughtful and kind in helping me learn more about lilies. No matter what we do in life, we all end up the same. I hope Ron has family and relatives that remember him fondly.
