Ruth Insel Obituary
INSEL RUTH LEONA INSEL On Tuesday, November 10, 2009, Ruth L. Insel of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife of the late H. Herbert Insel; devoted mother of four sons, Paul (of San Diego, CA), Richard (of Rochester, NY), Jonathan (of Tucson, AZ) and Thomas (of Potomac, MD). Also survived by nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister Betty Lublin and adoring family of nieces and nephews. Ruth was born and raised in Cleveland, OH and received her undergraduate degree from New York University and Masters of Social Work from Columbia University. She and her late husband H. Herbert Insel lived in Dayton, OH for 14 years and Silver Spring, MD since 1960. Ruth was involved in numerous organizations related to social work, health and education. Her enthusiasm, optimistic outlook, generous spirit and warm smile characterized these efforts and her interactions with a wide circle of friends and family. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, November 13, 1:30 p.m. at Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney, MD. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Insel Family Foundation, which supports health and education, in particular in the developing world., 5870 North Camino Del Conde, Tucson, AZ 85718. To Paul, Dick, Jon, and especially my childhood friend Tom,
I fondly remember your dear mother, Ruth. She was hospitable, kind, and always made me feel at home on the many times I came to visit and play at your home on Burnt Mills Court. Most of all, I remember her dedication to her family and the success of her boys. May her memory be a comfort to you during this time of loss. Sincerely, Marc Bresler

Tom, Deb and the Insel Family,
Please accept our condolences and loving thoughts during this time of reflection. Ruth's charm and warmth will always be remembered. She helped raise a wonderful family and cared for so many people.
