1939 - 2018 Notice Condolences

Tove Boesen Titlow

Of Bethesda, Maryland died of lung cancer on August 2, 2018, at the age of 78. Tove was born December 22, 1939, in Denmark. She grew up with her five sisters on the family farm, which was occupied by the German Army during WWII. Tove met her future husband, Richard Titlow, at a dance hall in Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. After they married in 1961, she joined Richard in Bethesda, where they raised a family and lived together for 53 years until his death in 2014. She became a US citizen, earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Maryland, and worked 30 years in the Federal Government. Tove and Richard traveled extensively, including driving by jeep in the Australian outback and enjoying wildlife in the Galapagos Islands. After retirement, Tove worked part time at the Bethesda and Davis Libraries, started a mystery book club, and volunteered with a number of local organizations. She enjoyed going for walks in the woods with friends and created a bird sanctuary in her back yard. Tove is survived by three sisters in Denmark (Kirsten Heiberg, Signe Northroup, and Aase Nielander), two children, (Karen Linscott and Christian Boesen) and four grandchildren, (Jack Linscott, Judd Linscott, Nelly Boesen, and Milena Isabel Boesen). There will be a gathering to celebrate her life on September 9 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the NIH Social and Academic Center at 9101 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD.
