I finished your book and I can't stop thinking about you and your Troops, Truddi. My heart aches with sadness and remorse at the thought that I can't talk to you all, to let you know how profoundly your story has impacted my life. I count you among one of my heroines. I will forever cherish and treasure the gift you gave to us through your book. Your legacy of holding up survivors will live on, Truddi. Thank you for protecting her, Troops. I hope you're all finding the rest you so greatly deserve.

You were such a beautiful soul, and an amazing inspiration! You were so strong, stronger than I think you ever knew. The world was a much better place with you and your troops here. You were a strong voice for those of us who didn't have a voice, or someone who cared enough to protect us. All my love to you, Truddi and Troops. Thank you.

I was touched and gladdened by the book 'When Rabbit Howls' which ironically I didn't know what the book really was. I just saw Rabbit in the title and it caught my eye. It has been an inspiration with dealing with hatred from people that think we are sick and need to be institutionalized. You shall be missed by those you never met and those that shall never get to know you but through the words of your book... may your words inspire many to seek help and maybe be comfortable with themselves as they are.
May you rest in peace with the universe.

Dapper strijdvaardig liefdevol waardevol mens
We hebben zoveel van jullie geleerd over ons zelf
We zijn trots op wie jullie waren en trots op wie wij zijn
Zonder het boek en de beelden op tv hadden we veel nooit begrepen
Trudy, je bent vereeuwigd in ons hart

Sorry, its in Dutch

Even though I never met you, I have known your story for longer than I can remember. When I was at my lowest point with my mother, you were my inspiration and hope. Through the experience you shared, I was able to help others. You are one of my greatest heroes. You will never be forgotten. And I truly hope that, one day, I will meet you again.

Truddi and the Troops,
You have helped me through a lot that I didn't know I was still struggling with. When I read your book I felt like I could relate so much. Another that wants to say thank you for everything. Read your book many years ago not understanding why I could *feel* the words and understand them so easily. A month ago I learned that I am a We, and that is why your book spoke to me like it did. Rest in peace Truddi and the Troops, thank you forever.

Truddi Chase, you inspire from the bed of earth you lay rested from what I consider tirelessness of a tireing condition, you are such an icon to my life and direction, you live on helping those like myself accept " living" with others in ones' self. We send our condolences even tho you have past on before my time. I thank you for your efforts to take selves to the Oprah show; I am Physically black and all other colors, even tho my children and others think i'm white inside trying to be black. You have blessed my life in moving forward breaking out of the medical sites to help others coming up behind me or us that needs a helping hand on how to accept you and yourselves as self. I can't say thank you enough.

S Stevens - how great that Truddi continues to affect your life and your sense of compassion towards others. I too have so much to be thankful for about her courage in telling her story!
September 22, 2015
I read her story when I was a teenager and I must have read her book about two dozen times by now. Now, in my 40s I decided to go back to college and one of my classmates is a multiple. Thanks to Trudi's book, I knew about her fight, her problems and her victories and it helped me to just take her the way she is. Not odd, or moody or weird - just a young woman who is smart as a whip, freightend like a little girl and strong as hell. She is in therapy and is making progress. I don't know what she will decide on in the end, integration or not - but Thank you Trudi for making us non multiples understand - to some degree anyway!

Truddi was one of those rare gems in this world that touched everyones life that she came in contact with. When Rabbit Howls" opened the door for me to begin accepting my own MPD, to give up hiding and be part of this world. I will never forget her or the life she built for herself.

What always strikes me about the kind posts by everyone here is that many of us still speak about her as if she is still here. She and the Troops were so powerful and inspiring that I feel she did not, cannot die really. She has just moved to a world where she can live in peace and watch the work she did continue to grow and influence and inspire. I love you Truddi and I love the Troops.

I am a fan of the Oprah show "Where Are They Now" and was going to suggest that they do a show on Truddi, but unfortunately I have discovered her passing almost 4 years ago. I remember her from the original interview, when I was only a teenager. I have remembered her story all of these years and was so interested in where her life took her. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. Like many have already said, she and the troops are at peace now.

Truddi was am amazing, brave, and inspirational person who used her heartbreaking pain to help and educate others. My heartfelt wishes are that she is now in a beautiful, tranquil place filled with love and happiness and free of any pain or sorrow.

A "support system" is the key. without it we cannot survive.
Truddi is amazing!!
November 2, 2013
To Truddi Chase, The Troops, her children, her support network and to the many of us who were encouraged by Your bravery. I bought and read one copy of "When Rabbit Howls," until it fell apart. Thankfully, you helped me find "Us" in those pages. The second copy purchased will reside as reference on the bookshelf. May God bless your legacy, your family and all those you taught through first hand example.

A friend of mine who was a Multiple, had D.I.D., after he integrated gave me the book when Rabbit Howls. I wasn't able to read it because I just learned I have D.I.D. and have been terrified of this disease. Yes, I have D.I.D. because of parental abuse and paternal incest and Priest abuse and when I could I opened Truddis book, just to peek at what I have. It scared me intensely, still does. I am glad though that she had a support team. I do not. I wish I did. I am in therapy and having a horrible time of it. I am glad Truddi had support. I wish there was support for all who have D.I.D./ Multiplicity. I actually found this OBIT looking for an on-line chat for those who have D.I.D. My condolenses to Truddies family and my concern and support for those who will be and are affected by her passing. I extend my support and friendship for all who have D.I.D. Gods Blessings on all of you. MK-MKM

Kenzie - On behalf of incest victims like myself who got so much from reading that book and not feeling so alone - that book would never have been possible had it not been for the compassion, understanding and bravery of Dr. Phillips and Stanley.

The fact that you are now inspired to continue on their groundbreaking path makes me very very happy, because I know another Truddi will have a chance to find a way out of the darkness because of a big-hearted therapist like you.

Blessings and thanks from myself (and I'm sure Truddi and the Troops)

I am sad to hear of this woman's passing. I read the book many times after it came out, and I still think of it to this day. People don't realize how much their actions affects the victims, and for how long. The fact that Truddi had so many personalities, is the exact reason she survived. I hope she was able to have some happiness in her life. God bless her beautiful soul, and the ones residing inside her mind.

To the Troops and the cores,
I recently read your book for a class in Psychological Trauma and it has greatly influenced me. I am now seriously considering a path much like Dr. Phillips' or Stanley's because of how deeply your accounts touched and interest me. I want to be able to help other individuals with dissociative identity disorder and to prevent further abuse from happening in the future.
Thank you for changing my life and for changing how I look at the mind. I have unbelievable admiration for you and for your Troops.

Truddi Chase and her brave battle to own the brutal consequences of her abuse was the reason I began to understand and heal from my own incest scars. Her willingness to keep going even when the demons seemed hell bent on destroying her soul, and the brilliant coping mechanisms her brain utilized to survive made me understand that I was brave, not cowardly, strong, not weak, and good, not evil. Your incredible story lives on with me to this day, and your life will live on through all of us who became whole in our brokenness by your courage and the gift you spent the rest of your life giving to others - understanding and forgiveness of ourselves.

Blessings and love to Truddi and the Troops - may you finally reside in the light you learned to see in the darkness. And blessings Kari and Paul for seeing your mother and her warriors as a gift, not as a burden, and letting us share our love for all of her.

as a world we should honor Truddi and The Troops for the pain should not theirs alone. They as a whole brought the true horror of their own experiences to public light and in doing so gave a voice to an attrocity that had been only wispered about befor. With their bravery and dedication to see that no child or adult suffer as they had they bared their souls and relived things most of us never want or wanted to awknowledge could or did happen. With the death of Truddi and The Troops humanity has lost a light of amazing beauty and an unparralled example of not only thr human mind and its potential but of the human spirit and soul. Though i never knew any of the Troops or Truddi except through their book zwhen Rabbit Howls I sit here now weeping as if i had lost my sister or mother. They touched my life in such a way that even today i will willingly put my own life at risk to protect a child. This effect has been present since i read their book at the age of 12. They helped me and hopefully an entire world face not only the depravity we as humans are capable of but to see the strenghth and compassion. i hope and pray the world takes the suffering and triumph of Truddi and The Troops to heart and like the Nazi consentration camps that still stand today as an eternal reminder to never let it happen again. Truddi and The Troops you will be missed you will be mourned but god willing you will NEVER be forgotten. rest easy and in peace now knowing through your sacrifice and triumph an untold number of children can and will now be saved from a similar and same pain. Thank you and i honor you.

Few people know the true daily battles she went through. I am not speaking of her childhood experiences. I am speaking of her inner battles.
