Aunt Doris,Sharon and family,I was a child the last time I saw (little) Walt. That is the name I so fondly remember him as. We climbed the stairs to The Washington Monument. I day I have not forgotten yet. He was such a giant to me,for he was so tall. Loosing a loved one is always painful. I pray the Lord will bless you all and give you comfort.Prayers to you always, Sherry Stover

I miss Walt so very much each day. Every time I see a helicopter or small plane, drive past the University of Maryland. He was truly a man who loved EVERYONE, and everyone loved HIM. It's hard to know I just cant shoot him an email or give him a call just to chat. Sharon and family, you are all so dear and always in my prayers.

I just found out about Walt yesterday. I met Walt when I was working as a police officer (now retired since 1995) and quickly became friends. Walt was a good friend who was always there to listen to your problems, joke with and just an all around good person. Walt, you will be missed by all. Heaven now has a good pilot. Condolences to Sharon and family.

I hadn't seen Walt since our graduation from Northwestern H.S. in 1970. I can still picture him sitting across from me in English class. He was a real gentleman then and I always knew he would be very successful in life. I am so sorry for your loss.

It seems like yesterday. Walt and
I were on the sidewalk of my shop in College Park wondering about the closing of Calvert Road for Metro. Walt lived West of the tracks, I on the East.
We worked opposite, and trading homes would help me get to the shop and him to the airport.
I left town and he got my home.We miss you, and wish the family the best.

Walt was one of my closest friends for two decades. But you didn't have to know Walt more than about 30 seconds to know what he was about...and to know you made a new friend. He was there for everyone. He was the glue. We are so sad he is gone. But we come away remembering everything he ever said to us--and now understanding why he said them. My thoughts and prayers to Doris, Sharon, Brent and Joanna.

Sharon and family, Aunt Doris, Phyllis and family--please know that our prayers are with you. I remember my cousin as handsome, smart, and a great joker. I knew he had grown up to be a well-respected man, but I remember him best for all his visits to NC and mine to Hyattsville. I know he has found his healing on the other side. Prayers and love to you all. Terry, Bill, Emma, and Ellen

Our hearts go out to all of you. Little did Glenda, Donna and I know in November, when we came to Uncle Walt's services, that would be the last time we would see cousin Walter.

I listed to Walt Starling's traffic reports with DJ's Baker and Burd on WPGC radio in the 1980's. I thought it was so amazing that someone was flying in a small plane and reporting on traffic for Washington-area commuters. My sincere sympathy to the Starling family and I know that Heaven has another pilot.

Just prior to my 11th birthday, I wanted to join BSA Troop 299 based at the United Methodist Church. I had to wait until I turned 11 but was allowed to come to the Court of Honor where I watched Walt get his Eagle badge. I didn't know him but I was so impressed and inspired. Since then I have always looked up or listened in when I heard his name. My condolences to the family.

I last saw Walter in Sept. and never did I expect he would have left us by now. I have loved him and his whole family all my life and he will be missed terribly by all that knew him.

We shared good times with the Chancel Choir from First Methodist Church. Sundays in church, choir picnics, and road trips to sing were always more fun when Walt was with us.
Walt's brave struggle has ended, and we must carry on without him.
We will miss Walt's boyish grin, wonderful sense of humor, and his zest for life.
Heaven is ringing with a new sound of joyous laughter, Walt is there.
