Walter Wendell Edwards of Arlington, VA, died on November 27, 2018. He grew up in Milford, MA. In 1943, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Walter graduated from Brigham Young University in 1951. He worked in retail before joining the Marine Corps Exchange Service. His titles included Merchandise Coordinator and eventually Operations Officer for the Marine Corps Retail Operations Branch.
An amateur historian, he was interested in military, as well as US and British history. Survivors include his wife Carma Dean Mottonen, daughter Terilee Edwards-Hewitt and son Bradley Phillip Edwards. It was Walter's belief that in the afterlife, he would join that band of Marines who guard the streets of Heaven. Semper Fi.
Visitation with family is December 17, 6 to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA. A Memorial Service will take place December 18, 11 am at Christ Church in Alexandria, VA. Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery, December 18 at 1 p.m.
