Lilly Olson Obituary



OLSON LILLY CORRINE OLSON (Age 98) A prominent civic leader in the Washington, DC area, died at home on April 24, 2010, of natural causes. Mrs. Olson was born in Proctor, Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin in 1934. She taught at the University of Chicago Experimental School in Williams Bay, Wisconsin for two years and then briefly at the University of Wisconsin at Stout. She resided in Bethesda, Maryland for more than 60 years and was a member of Westmoreland Congregational Church. Mrs. Olson was active in the League of Republican Women, the Capitol Speakers Club, the International Neighbors Club, and the Washington Club. She was the beloved wife of the late Loren K. Olson, who died in 2000. She is survived by two sons, Douglas and Larry, a daughter-in-law, Irene, and two grandsons, Lars and Nils, all residing in the Washington, DC area. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Johnson, residing in Minneapolis. A brief memorial service will be held at Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855, on April 27 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Rockville MD 20850. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Joseph Gawler''s Sons, Inc.
