Maj. Gen. CHARLES P. STONE  
Major General Charles P. Stone (Ret.) died peacefully at his farm in Mathews, VA on February 6, 2012. Born in New York City on June 17, 1915, educated at CUNY, he entered the Army as a Thomson Act Officer in 1938. He saw active service in North Africa and Sicily and retired in 1969 after commanding the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam.His retirement was active, filled with family, friends, pets, travel, and gardens - all enjoyed with his beloved wife Mary who passed away in 2008.He always approached life with great enthusiasm, humor, and appreciation for the wonderful experiences and people with whom he shared his 96 years. For this, and for his humanity, his integrity, his professionalism and care for those under his command, he will be remembered as a truly remarkable person.General Stone is greatly missed by his daughter Jamie, his brother Walter, their families, and his carers, especially Nancy Keel. And special thanks to the wonderful people from Hospice.Maj. Gen. Charles P Stone (Ret.) and his wife, Mary will be buried together at Arlington National Cemetery, March 15, 2012 at 3 p.m.Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
