SHERYL GILBERT  
On June 25, 2012, Sheryl Gilbert died peacefully at home in Somerset, Chevy Chase, MD, of cancer. She leaves a husband, Peter Jaszi, and children Sabrina and Ned. Sheryl was a devoted neighbor and friend, an enthusiastic and successful gardener, an indefatigable volunteer for many causes, a world traveler and passionate birdwatcher, and an accomplished cook and hostess with Gallic panache. She was also a skilled and beloved mathematics tutor for both gifted/talented and learning disabled children - a second career for which she trained at American University and the Lab School of Washington. Previously she had worked as a conservation biologist at the National Zoological Park and the World Wildlife Fund. Sheryl's friends and family will gather to remember her on Thursday, July 26, at 4:30 p.m. on the 6th Floor of the Washington College of Law, 4801 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC. Contributions in her memory be made to RICH (Resources for Inner-City Children), to establish a "Sheryl Gilbert Chair" for tutoring LD children in the organization's Saturday Academy, and/or to the Democratic Committee of Accomac County (Virginia), where Sheryl volunteered to help get out the vote in 2008.
