JONATHAN WILDES Obituary
JONATHAN ASA KNIGHT WILDES
Jon Wildes passed away on July 20, 2013 at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Jon was born October 2, 1991 in Ft. Riley, Kansas, the youngest son in a military family. Jon moved from Kansas, to West Point, NY, to Izmir, Turkey, until finally settling in Annandale, VA. Jon attended Columbia Elementary School, Glasgow Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology, graduating in 2009. "Jonny" was always on the move with his two older brothers. He was a natural athlete, loving all things sports. Growing up in Annandale, Jon excelled in soccer, basketball, swimming, skiing and baseball. He was an avid baseball fan, playing the game as a three year member of the TJ Colonials Varsity Baseball Team. Living next to the Pinecrest Golf Course, Jon found his greatest sporting love right next to the house, golf, the game of life. Golf was his passion, playing, practicing chipping and putting, going to the driving range, or simply just swinging an imaginary club indoors. Jon also loved working with young people; whether as a referee at a trampoline arena or as a volunteer for the youth program at the Jewish Community Center. Jon loved teaching and coaching, sharing his infectious smile and laugh with the children and staff. Jon was attending classes at Northern Virginia Community College and was pursuing a career in teaching and golf management. Jon will be remembered for his charismatic personality, quick wit, and a contagious vibrant energy. He is survived by his parents David and Kitty Wildes, his brothers David and Drew, his grandmother Marie Knight, and many loving cousins, aunts, and uncles. I am sorry for your loss. I studied with Jon at Columbia Elementary and have great memories. He was a fantastic person and welcomed me to the US when I moved to Virginia from Venezuela. We'd go out biking around Bermuda Green Ct or play Xbox. I just found out about this and am saddened about the news. He was a good friend and will definitely be missed. I owe him some Toronto chocolate which is a Venezuelan candy he liked.

Words cannot express our sorrow for your loss. A parent should not bury a child ever and it should be the other way around. Kitty, we were pregnant together and I have fond memories of the support we gave each other as our spouses were deployed to Desert Shield/Desert Storm from Fort Kiley, KS. We weathered that "Storm" together but also there were the good times we shared at the wive's support group meetings, the attempts to go outlet shopping, however we did make it to the "Little Apple" (Manhattan, Kansas) for a little fun at the children's theatre where we took our kids. You delivered your precious baby Jonathan one month after I delivered Lois prematurely at the old Irwin Army Hospital but both our babies did fine. Take pleasure in fond memories such as this. Kay and I just returned from travel...sorry we're late sharing our love and prayers. We are heartbroken. May our gracious Lord comfort you and your precious family. Jonathan was a wonderful young man and will live on in the hearts of so many who loved him. Cherish your special memories of him.

Dave and Kitty, It was a privilege to be able to watch Jonathan growing up in Annandale.

David, Kitty, and Family--
We are so sorry and saddened to learn of Jon's passing. Although we have not seen Jon in many years, we still remembered him vividly as "Speedy," playing baseball with our son Daniel while both attended Columbia Elementary School. Wildes Family, I was shocked and heartbroken to learn about Jons passing, I can only try to imagine the sorrow over the loss of a child and brother so young. I will forever cherish the many times I spent with Jon and Drew at the Nats games. None of us knew how special those moments were, and how short our time with Jon would be.
