On Tuesday, August 5, 2014 Larry N. Thompson, Sr. of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Glenda Thompson of 53½ years; loving father of Larry "Nick" Jr. (Karen) Thompson, Leslie Thompson, Cherie (Terry) Conrad and Pamela Thompson Perez; cherished grandfather of Chelsey, Tara, Kyle, Terry "T.C.", Casey and Les Logan; brother of Nancy, Michele and the late Beverly. Friends may call at the Hines Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD. on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment private. Glenda and family,
We cannot tell you how saddened we are at the news of Larry's passing. Judy and I have such fond memories of the wonderful times we spent together on Marco Island and the fantastic vacation we shared with both of you at the Grand Hotel in Michigan. Larry was such a unique, generous and lovable guy - I've never enjoyed playing softball, or just "hanging out", with anyone as much as Larry. We will miss him more than you know, and NEVER forget him!

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I loved playing softball all those years with Larry. I never did hit 600 and I couldn't drink a case of beer, but he let me play on his team anyway!

I got to know Larry the last 9 years playing softball with him on Wed. mornings. He was a fun guy to be around and it was a joy knowing him and being a teammate. My thoughts and prayers are with Larry and the family. May all the good memories sustain you at this sad time.

I am sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I knew him only through softball games. He was an outstanding player but, more importantly, whether as a team mate or an opponent, Larry always made the game more fun.

I was fortunate to play softball as Larry's teammate dating back to the 1970's. Larry was an outstanding shortstop with a very accurate arm. Off the field Larry was a very caring person and when he did talk about his family, you knew he loved them very much.
One of my favorite memories occurred in 2010 when Larry, daughters Cherie & Pam and I were teammates on a championship Co-Ed team in Montgomery County. That was a fun year.
While we all grieve for Larry, we know that you will have many wonderful memories to help you through this very difficult time.
We will keep you in our prayers.
