I was at a golf outing with Tibor a couple of years ago at Bethany, it was going to be his last one with the boys, which dragged me there. When we remembered H he confided how much he loved and missed him, specifically arguing with him, which they seemed to do more for the fun of it than anything else. That was just the kind of friend H was, we didn't always have to agree to love and value each other.

In four days it will mark the fifth anniversary of Jerry's passing. I went back in my head and remembered all the times I ran into Jerry back in 1979 before he got married and then during my career on the Hill. He will always be special to me. His smile was so infectious and he was one of the nicest people I've ever known. I think about him today as we approach that five years of his being gone. Rest in Peace Jerry. Thank you for always being my friend. Dec. 4, 2019. Jane Simpson

Although I've never been much of a golfer, I felt compelled to attend an old guy's golf outing at Bethany Beach, once I learned of Tibor's (Ed Gulyas) deteriorating health. Tibor was still with it then (2017) so when I mentioned missing H (Gerry) he of course became very emotional. He told me how much he missed him, especially arguing with him. Then he verified what we all knew, when with misty eyes he said: "I really loved H." He isn't the only one with great memories of his old roommate and partner in real estate, and most importantly very good friend.

Donna so sorry to hear about Jerry. I worked with him at ASHP in the early 80s and kept up with him over the years. He was always so genuine, caring and just a nice person. When I saw him last he told me he had a "battle ahead" and I didnt know what he meant. I guess I know now. I would have wanted to come and say goodbye I just didnt know. Please know that he was a significant influence in my life in terms of what I do now and I will remember him forever. Take Care and i am praying for you and the kids

I had the pleasure of knowing Jerry at Notre Dame. We lived across the hall from each other junior year. We would reconnect at reunions. He was one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met. Always a smile on his face. I am deeply saddened by his passing.

Although I have not seen Jerry in years, I look at his photo and he is still the handsome, happy "kitchen boy" from Lourdes Camp, where I met him in 1966 when I was a counselor there. His smile lit up the room and many of my fondest Lourdes memories include Jerry.
My heart is heavy for our loss of an extraordinary guy. Heaven is so lucky to have him; Rest in Peace, Jerry.
My sincere condolences to all the Hogans.

Donna and family. I just this minute found out about my friend Jerry. I am utterly stunned. I had no idea he was ill. He was as wonderful and as capable a man I have ever known, and it was my great pleasure to serve with him at MSPB. God bless all of you in the days and months ahead.

Jerry has been in our thoughts since we heard the sad news. He had an infectious smile and we never encountered him without receiving one. He always took a moment to say hello, offer a kind word, or encouragement if needed. We enjoyed his “how I met” Donna stories and loved to hear him talk about his kids. This world is poorer for the loss of him and we can only imagine how difficult it must be for you, his family. We are deeply sorry for your loss and will hold you in our hearts and prayers. “God be on your road every way you go.”

Irish Guard 2012 copyright Cashore

I met Jerry early in my time at Notre Dame. When I joined St. John the Beloved parish in 1994, I was delighted to see him. He was a son of Notre Dame -- the university and Our Lady. Surely, to die on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and to be buried on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is special. I think of him in the words of our alma mater hymn to Our Mother, "tender, strong and true." On campus, he was a member of the small, elite, tall "Irish Guard." I hope someone will post a picture of him in uniform. Until then, I have added a picture of the 2012 unit.

I will miss the emails, phone calls, and, especially the lunches I had with Jerry over the last few years. They were consumed with football talk, bits about work ... but I'll always remember how he lit up any time he spoke about his family. I was in awe of the pride and joy he took discussing anything related to Donna, Brian, Kelly & Kevin. He was an example for the man, husband and father I'd like to be. Rest In Peace my friend!

Jerry Hogan was a shining light amongst our Notre Dame/SMC Classes of 1972. One for whom both family and professional success in life was easy to predict. Truly a class act. To say he will be missed is a vast understatement.

The Whipkeys will always have a special place in their hearts for Jerry. Such a genuine family man . I spent many a swim meet at Tuckahoe in philosophical discussions and it usually ended up with why his boys should go to Gonzaga. What a proud dad he was of Brian , Kevin and Kelly...Handsome,Beautiful ,talented kids. We had the pleasure of sitting with Donna and Jerry last spring when Kevin was inducted into the Washington Football Legends. Jerry gave a great speech and was beaming with pride. Our thoughts and prayers are with Donna, Kelly, Kevin and Brian. I've known and grew to love H, as a trusted friend, since we first met in 1974, when he was the good half of the Gulyas &Hogan odd couple pairing. We called him a “G” which began as a slight, Jerry changed the definition into: Gentleman, Good Guy, Great Person, or basically everything you'd hope your son or daughter would grow up to be.
God bless and aid all who loved him now and forever, whenever his wonderful grin comes to mind.

To Jerry, FAMILY meant everything. Anytime, my family came to town, he went out of his way to stop by or ensure that he saw all of us, including having a special treat for my kids. My parents still talk about how much fun they had at the golf outing that Jerry helped organize for our wedding weekend years ago. As we explained to our kids upon hearing of Uncle Jerry's death, they now have an additional guardian angel to watch over them.

In the celebration of his life, may we remember that constant commitment to and love for FAMILY that Jerry always shared with others. Sending our thoughts and prayers to Donna, Brian, Kelly and Kevin and the entire Hogan clan, and finding strength in the image of the next gathering up in Heaven that Jerry is already organizing (a bowl game tailgate?), including the thought that he'll be celebrating this Christmas with his parents.
