HAROLD LANE Obituary
HAROLD RICHARD LANE (Age 73)
Passed away at home in Capitol Hill on Friday, October 16, 2015. Born on March 7, 1942, in Danville, IL. Rich is survived by his wife, Sherry of 47 years; his two sons, Christopher and Erich, two brothers, and three sisters. His parents Charles and Naomi Lane, one sister, and one brother preceded him in death. For 18 years, Rich served as a National Science Foundation (NSF) program director in the Sedimentary Geology and Paleobiology Program. During that time, he was also very devoted to the paleontological collaborations between NSF-USA and NSF-China. Prior to that, Rich was the Manager of Technical Services at Amoco Production Company for 28 years. He earned his B.S. from the University of Illinois and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geology from the University of Iowa. Services are in Danville, IL. Memorial donations can be made to GWU Heart and Vascular Institute www.gwheartandvascular.org.
