With all that has been occurring in the environment and in the world, we sure could use his technical expertise and need a healthy dose of his humor.

My sincere condolences to Bill's family. I feel lucky to have gotten the chance to work with Bill. Just out of grad school, I attended my first scientific conference with Bill where he was presenting results of one of our studies. He pulled me on stage to give part of the presentation. I was so nervous. I was impressed that he prioritized giving a young scientist an opportunity during his presentation. I have been thinking of time spent working with Bill that always involved lots of laughing due to his sense of humor, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Bill was a pioneer in the Clean Water Act methods development at EPA. I first met him in 1980's and many times after that while we were both at EPA. Bill made me like to hear talks on analytical methods. That said a lot about Bill's abilities! I still smile when I remember some of the conferences we both attended. My condolences and respect to his family. I know he impacted a lot of people in a positive way and will be remembered with admiration.

Bill was a colleague and friend with whom I worked for more than 20 years at EPA. His contributions in analytical chemistry were many and critically important to the success of our program. Bill was also the court jester of our program helping to keep things on the lighter side when the going got tough. He will be missed.

My Deepest Sympathies to the family. I worked with Bill at EPA from 1976 to 1982 and then as a contractor from 1982 through 2006. He was a wonderful person to work with and he always had a smile on his face when I would meet him. Rest in Peace Bill!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill's family and friends. I enjoyed working with Bill here at EPA HQ - - never a dull moment, he made people laugh and smile, and could hold his own with many of our challengers. Heaven will never be the same now that Bill is there. I am sure he has the place hopping. We are blessed to have known him and he is highly respected as a colleague, a scientist and his significant contributions to the Agency and the environment. Rock on Bill. We'll be toasting you and your full commitment to living life to its fullest! :) Laura and Chet Phillips and family

Bill has left a legacy of someone that energized and uplifted all that he spoke too. Not taking himself to seriously but nevertheless with a seriousness of purpose that contributed to the improvement of our world.
We all will miss him.

My deepest sympathy to the Telliard family on Bill's passing. Bill's voluminous contributions and duration of work for EPA is noteworthy. He was a leader, colleague and mentor to many. Even during the most intense times he could always make one smile and chuckle. He will be missed.
