JOHN EUGENE MANNING
November 7, 1922 ~ January 25, 2017 On Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of 65 years to Mary Louise Manning; and loving father to Martha Manning, John "Chip" Manning, Jr. (Ann Simonini), Priscilla Ford (late husband Darrell), Mark Manning (Wendy), Rachel Hymel (Greg) and the late Sarah Manning; cherished grandfather to Keara, Chelsea, Christie, Tommy, Tori, Grace, Sean and Izzy; great-grandfather to Kate, Jameson, Ryan, Ella and Lilly; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant, United States Marine Corps during World War II and as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation from which he retired in 1973.The family will receive friends at Pumphrey's Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 3 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady's Chapel, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 520 Veirs Mill Rd., Rockville, MD with a reception immediately following.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Operation Second Chance, 20251 Century Blvd., Suite 130, Germantown, Md. 20874 or www.operationsecondchance.org. I had the pleasure of working with John in the FBI's Intelligence Division during the early 1970's. He was a kind man, great mentor and a most sincere agent. I consider myself most fortunate for having him as a supervisor and friend. My deepest sympathy and condolences to your family but take comfort in knowing that John lives on in those he touched.
