Lillian M. Rasmussen  
Died on March 21, 2017 at The Village at Rockville at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Charlotte Clarke of Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, and her husband of 50 years, Alan Rasmussen.Lil is survived by two sisters, Hazel Paton in Manitoba, and Claire Hunter in Alberta; sister-in-law Betty Clarke in Manitoba, plus their extended families. Lil is also survived by a daughter, Karen Rasmussen Peifer, and husband, George, of Williamsburg, Virginia; two sons, Thomas Rasmussen of Coconut Creek, Florida, and Peter Rasmussen of Santa Ana, California; three loving grandchildren, Tim Peifer (wife, Kristine), Joyce Forbes (husband, Charles), Kristen Peifer, and two great grandchildren, Emma Peifer and Brenden Peifer.The Rasmussens retired in the 1960s and made their home in Montgomery County Maryland. Lil was a public health nurse, was instrumental in the beginning of the state Head Start program, and president of the Montgomery County Nurses Association. She often said the highlight of her career was being chosen for the staff of the Mark Twain School. Her life was one of service to others, and she was never without a project at her church or community.A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m., prior to a funeral service on March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at The Village at Rockville Chapel, 9701 Veirs Drive, Rockville, Maryland 20850. The family is forever grateful to the caring staff at TVAR and to the Montgomery County Hospice team who was so kind through the difficult transition.
