KISS RONALD KOLOMAN KISS Ron entered into God's Heavenly Kingdom on Saturday, April 8, 2017, after a 26 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He lived his busy life happily in Rockville, Maryland, surrounding himself with his wife of 54 years, June, and his three children, their spouses; and seven wonderful grandchildren, Navy Captain Thomas and Mary Beth Kiss of Chesapeake, VA, with Samantha and Charlotte; Timothy and Betsy Kiss of Rockville, MD, with Lauren and Ashley; Karen and Rick Ward of Bristol, TN, with Ricky, Brittany, and Katie. Throughout his life, Ron was involved with his passion for sailing, most recently his Flying Scot in Lavallette, NJ, where he served as Commodore of the Lavallette Yacht Club. He had a love for cruising and traveling anywhere and anytime. He also completed his autobiography for his family after his diagnosis. A graduate of Webb Institute '63 and University of California '65 with degrees in Naval Architecture, he worked at the US Maritime Administration from 1963-1982. He then served at the Pentagon as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Ship Programs ASN for Research, Development, and Acquisition at the Department of the Navy until 1997. He ended his working years after serving as President of his alma mater, Webb Institute, in Glen Cove, NY, from 1998-2005, an honor for him. Ron was always involved in professional societies, having served as President of both SNAME and ASNE. The viewing will take place at Pumphrey's Funeral Home in Rockville on Monday, April 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 18, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. and the burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
